Chilton Biomass Energy Centre
A 17.5MW capacity biomass energy station fuelled by grade B, C and D waste wood products.
Biomass powers the steam turbine which supplies electricity direct to the National Grid.
A £40 million plant which has been operational since 2011.
Produces renewable energy from biomass created by up to 120,000 tonnes of waste wood per year.
Waste wood supplied by Seras to the plant under a long term contract.
Developed and now owned and operate by Veolia Energy-Dalkia.
Speyside Renewable Energy Partnership
Generates up to 15MW of electricity, enough renewable energy to power 20,000 homes.
Supplies 10MW of heat to the Macallan whisky distillery
The overall carbon savings of the plant equate to 42,000 tonnes of CO2 per annum equivalent to taking 18,000 cars of the road a year.
Fuelled by sustainable low-grade wood harvested from regional forestry operations, supporting the local forestry growers and jobs in the supply chain.
A third of the plant’s fuel is supplied by Seras.
Cramlington Biomass Power Plant
Creates up to 28MW of electrical power and 8MW of heat for export via private wire to industrial customers and the grid.
Owned by JLEN Environmental Asset Groups Limited, the biomass CHP plant has been fully operational since 2018.
Generates enough clean energy to power 52,000 households a year, offsetting 56,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) every year.
Seras has a contract with the plant until 2024 to supply wood by-product.
